Kendrick Lamar, Chainsmokers, Kalid & H.E.R are our Neighbours: "Hey Neighbor"

A high anticipated weekend with the whose who in the music industry! A whole weekend global music festival on SA soil. This festival was promoted a year prior to get us to save our coins and other means to aid in all South Africans to participate in festival from breaking the payment for each phases to having a Black Friday Special for passes.

Each ticket was estimated to be R1.5 general and R3000 +/- for VIP tickets. The festival was held in Pretoria which is far, therefore the was camping sight for people to camp out for the whole weekend. The festival provided a platform for artists who have flourished with the popularity of Amapiano and Afrobeats.

Hey Neighbor was packed with experiences of different stages to accommodate all music lovers, social actives like silent headphone challenge, multiple food stalls and bars. After covid there were a lot of social and economical changes, Hey Neighbor, became an escape for young South Africans especially the Matriculants. It is an opportunity for people to connect through the festival and camping, interacting with a diverse groups of people.

this festival created job opportunities for vendors, marketing companies and promotors.

Friday Phase 1 (8 Dec 2023) had grammy nominee Tyla, international acts were Khalid and headliners Chainsmokers. There was rain on Friday but it stopped intime for the international acts.

Saturday Phase 2 (9 Dec 2023) was the phase everyone needed to be at, it started early at 10 am till late. Phase 2 had SA biggest starts from Zakes Bantwini to Scorpion Kings and the headliner of the night the Humble hitmaker Kendrick Lamar. To Pimp a Butterfly was inspired by his first visit to South Africa in 2014. Between 10:45 pm and 11 pm the crowd waited with the anticipation, honestly you would’ve sworn that we had all come to the outskirts of Pretoria just for Kendrick, as the streets were saying, "are you going to see Kendrick" it was a Kendrick concert. The Heart Part 5 started playing, teasing that Kendrick was about to bless the stage with his DNA. Kendrick went through his discography with a background of Los Angeles artist Henry Taylor. Kendrick made the mistake on performing most of his latest music from his latest album which most of the South Africans did not know the lyrics of the records or maybe the Hey Neighbor audience was not Kendricks demographic.

Phase 3 (10 Dec 2023) was a rainy day H.E.R and Swedish House Mafia performed and Dali Wonga (SA act). Sunday was a slow day there was crazy thunderstorms and heavy rains.
